Upload data from Google Sheets to Salesforce

Create an upload template

Open Extensions → Data Integrator for Salesforce → Upload Data. An upload template maps the columns of your sheet to the fields of a Salesforce object:

  1. Choose the target object (standard or custom).
  2. Choose the operation: insert new records, update existing ones (the sheet must contain an Id column) or delete records by ID.
  3. Map each sheet column to a Salesforce field. Unmapped columns are ignored, so you can keep working notes next to the data.

Run the upload and the add-on writes the result of every row back to the sheet, so you can see at a glance which records were created or updated and which rows failed validation (with the Salesforce error message).

Typical workflow

  1. Pull the records you want to change into a sheet.
  2. Edit values in bulk with normal spreadsheet tools (formulas, find & replace, fill down).
  3. Run your saved update template to push the changes back.

Upload templates are saved per spreadsheet and can be rerun any time — and they can also be executed on a schedule as part of a workflow, giving you a true two-way sync between Google Sheets and Salesforce.

Tips

  • Test uploads against a sandbox org first.
  • Use Admin Tools → Convert 15-char IDs to 18-char if your ID column came from a classic report export — see Admin tools.
  • Date, number and picklist values are validated by Salesforce; failed rows do not stop the rest of the upload.
